Welcome back to the second part of my skincare routine! If you read my Morning Skincare Routine, then you know all about my skin type and all that fun stuff. My AM skincare routine is very consistent, but my evening skincare routine involves significantly more product rotation so I decided to show you a routine I regularly rely on.
When it comes to the evening, I never ever skip a face cleaning. Not if I get home at 3am. Not if I'm so tired, I almost fall asleep with my face over the sink. So much skin cell regeneration happens while we sleep, I wouldn't even consider going to sleep without washing my face first. Plus, free radicals accumulate on the skin and they will wreck havoc if you don't wash them off. And a day's worth of makeup will clog your pores. So basically cleaning the skin at night is a must! That being said, let’s start with what I cleanse my face with! I always remove my sunscreen and/or makeup with an oil cleanser. My absolute favourite is Josh Rosebrook's Herbal Infusion Oil. I have tried many oil cleansers over the past few years and some leave me less than impressed, but Josh Rosebrook got it right. I did a full review on it here. I prefer the dry cloth method (no water), but I know so many prefer to rinse with a warm, wet cloth. I simply rub a few drops between my hands and over my skin, let it sit for 30 seconds, grab a dry cloth and in a circular motion, “pull” the debris out of my skin. I will then go in with Josh Rosebrook's Complete Moisture Cleanse, because I always double cleanse. And this stuff is AWESOME. I seriously don’t know where I’d be without it! My sensitive, dry skin loves it…and it totally calms any redness or stressed skin. This creamy gel cleanser infuses the skin with phytonutrient-rich sea minerals, neutralizes free radicals with antioxidants hawthorne berry, grape seed, and green tea, moisturizes with omegas 3, 6, and 9, and wards off inflammation with Calendula, Slippery Elm, St Johns Wort. Seriously. So good. As the final step in my cleansing routine I will go in with Okoko Cosmétiques Élixir de Clarté. This is a chemically exfoliating water-based toner/serum which will not only help to slough off dead skin cells but will also prep my skin for any other moisturizing products to be applied afterward. Because chemical exfoliators need to work at a low pH, it’s recommended to wait a minimum of 15-20 minutes before applying the rest of your skincare. I don’t always have the patience to wait that long but at the very least, I wait 1-2 minutes for it to sufficiently dry and then finish my routine.
Next up is moisturizer/treatment. I’ve been using Okoko Cosmétiques Les 16 Precieux Serum nightly for the past month or so and I am absolutely thrilled with it! I need something that will deeply hydrate my skin and this one really seems to bring a glow to my skin. I am very picky about results and I can see that this oil really works. My skin feels nourished and supple. Not to mention that, it smells refreshing and relaxing – a nice way to end the day and ease into sleep! If my skin is feeling a little spotty or agitated, I will pat on a couple drops of Pai's Rosehip Oil. It is great for calming down irritated skin and minimizing blemishes. I always notice that I wake up with much less redness, and any swelling on spots has gone down after I use this at night. Truly magical! Next I will smooth a little Bottega Organica Illuminate Eye Countour Cream under my eyes. I love love LOVE this stuff! It is so light, refreshing under my eyes and moisturizing without being clogging or heavy. And the benefits of this eye cream are terrific! It reduces dark circles, lifts, firms and strengthens skin, prevents sagging, reduces wrinkles and fine lines…I mean, yes please! And lastly, when my skin desires it, I use a thin layer of Okoko Cosmétiques Sublime Balm as the very last step in my nightly skincare routine to lock in all my products. Only the smallest amount is needed, it absorbs quickly and feels so light on the skin - and I wake up to ultra-soft, calm skin.
Hopefully you learned a bit and discovered some new products! Would you like to see another post on the masks and extras I use on my face? Let me know in the comments!
