Going Au Naturale

Two or three years ago, if you were to look at my beauty cabinet, you probably would have been shocked by the overwhelming amount of chemical-filled products in there. Lotions and cleansers and self tanners and hair products… I could go on forever. You see, I’ve always been a lover of beauty products — I still am — but I haven’t always been such a huge advocate for natural beauty. It just used to be something I never really thought about. I knew that what I was putting onto my skin and hair wasn’t necessarily good for me, but I kind of always assumed that I didn’t have any other option... Boy, I was wrong.

A few years ago, I made it my mission to start treating my body with respect. I became conscious of what I was fueling my body with, and how I was treating it on a daily basis. It was from there that I began exploring the world of organic beauty, and slowly it rose to become one of my top priorities.  Once I started paying attention, I realized there were some really unhealthy things in the products I’d been using (every day, for years), like pthalates, parabens, and lead. It shocked me to read all the ingredients on products, and how much of the listings that I did not understand. I would research for hours, each individual ingredient to find out how it is harmful to your body. I got on with EWG Skin Deep and fell in love. This website is not only informational, but completely eye opening! They give a rating of how toxic each ingredient is, and how the ingredient will effect one's body. After researching so many ingredients and having lists and lists filling up my notebooks, I decided to give up on the conventional products I still owned. I decided to take control of my life, and research more natural products.

And so this blog was born. Welcome, fellow beauty junkies! I hope that you will find something you love here and begin to embark on your own organic beauty journey.
