I’ve recently discovered RMS Beauty and it’s literally changed my life (beauty routine wise)! I’ve never experienced having so many favourite products from just one brand before and I thought I’d share some of them with you the upcoming weeks. First up: the "Un" Cover-Up.
Most people think that the RMS "Un" Cover-Up is just a concealer. It's not. It's not even a concealer in the way you might be used to (it's not dry nor opaque). No, I consider "Un" Cover-Up a true hybrid product that you can use all over your face as a sheer, lightweight foundation AND build up in certain areas, such as under the eyes and around the nose, where you want more coverage. It isn't going to erase all imperfections (like so many foundations that completely white out every flaw and leave you cakey and dry). It's going to give you a more even, healthy skin look, but the effect is still very natural. The most amazing thing about "Un" Cover-Up is that it contains so few ingredients, and all of them are good for your skin. There are no fillers, water, silicones or hard-to-pronounce chemicals you've never heard of. Comprised primarily of oils and pigments; in fact, coconut oil is the first ingredient (which is the case for a lot of RMS products). It has a thick texture that is rich in pigment, but once applied it blends into the skin and you'll hardly notice it's there (no matter how many layers you pile on). I'm a foundation-hater from waaay back. Yes, I've used them out of necessity, but I hate how most of them look, feel and smell, and often want to wash them off right away. "Un" Cover-Up never gives me the feeling that I'm wearing a mask of makeup. Because you can't see it sitting on top of your skin, and there is no scent, you pretty much forget you're wearing it. I consider it skincare, actually!
I wear shade 11 which is the second to lightest and it is a perfect match for my skin tone. The colour is somewhat self-adjusting - it appears to have a very yellow base, however, it matches my slightly olive toned skin to a t. For me, it doesn’t fade, crease, or wipe off—just stays looking fresh and natural from start to finish. Now, this isn’t a concealer that will stay where you put it for 24 hours, surviving a night out, showers and sleep, but that’s not what I look for in a concealer. Concealer goes on some of the most sensitive areas of our face, under the eyes, around the nose, on a blemish. I look for a formula that’s going to look great but also nourish the skin, and this one does the trick.
How-to use: I wear it two ways. 1) As a foundation, this is great for “no makeup” makeup days. I prefer to apply it with my fingers and then use a damp beauty blender to smooth everything out. 2) As a concealer. It gives a light/medium coverage as concealer and has a creamy consistency. No creasing! The coconut oil base has a hydrating affect on the skin without feeling greasy. For oily skin, use a primer.
Believe the hype about rms! I can confidently say that I adore this product. WILL purchase again.
This little pot of goodness cost $45.
