Skincare can be a delicate subject. I mean, skin itself is pretty delicate. Personally, I’m of the mindset that less-is-more when it comes to skin care products. Cleanse, serum, moisturize, done. A few years ago I learned that it takes most products about 4-6 weeks to really work and to fully produce the results you’re looking for. That being said, I don't switch products very often and if I am trying something out, I give it about a month before I feel comfortable saying if it “worked” or not. So when I find something that does work for me, it tends to stay in my routine for a long, long, long time.
The Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil is one of those products that has firmly planted itself in my skincare routine for over 3 years now. I am a huge fan of rosehip oil in general, and Pai’s is extra special because it is more than simple cold pressed rosehip seed oil. Pai uses both the stem and seed of the rosehip plant, whilst other conventional brands only extract the oil from the seed. The oil is extracted using CO2 supercritical extraction meaning it's properties are left intact, making the oil that much more powerful. According to Pai, this extraction method also extends the shelf life of the product from cold pressing's six months to a full two years.
I could skip the review altogether and tell you all to go get this asap, but you need to know why: this will not only hydrate your skin, but it will give it a lovely glow, almost as if you live on 9 hrs of sleep per night (which we all know you don't)! Another factor that places this oil one level above the rest, in my opinion, is the formula: along with the usual vitamins and fatty acids that most facial oils contain, this contains a high level of carotenoids (antioxidants) that give it its signature orange colour, unlike many other rosehip oils. Personally I'm sold, even more so because rosehip oil is a natural source of all-trans-retinoic acid, a type of Vitamin A metabolite that can be readily used by the skin, without causing any irritations.
Rosehip oil is loaded with Omegas 3, 6, 7 and 9, which are all essential fatty acids, which basically, help the skin to function better and restores the skins nutrients. Thanks to high levels of vitamin A and C, rosehip oil repairs skin damage, fades scars and hyper-pigmentation, and softens fine lines. It is one of nature’s best toning and refining ingredients, and it’s appropriate for all skin types, including sensitive and acne-prone. It’s ability to brighten and plump your complexion affirm how truly powerful simple, high quality natural ingredients can be.
As to be expected this is a dry oil, meaning it is quickly absorbed by the skin, non-greasy and can be used under other beauty products. I personally use this as pre-bedtime treatment. I pipette out a few drops in to the palm of my hand, and then use my fingers to apply small amounts to areas of my face, rub my hands together to disperse and then spend one or two minutes massaging it in. You don't need much of this as it applies like a dream and most importantly? It absorbs in a flash. I will also work a little more of the oil into any spotty areas as it really helps to calm and soothe the redness and inflammation. You can use it in the morning too, just apply it after your toner – it works so well at boosting the complexion and foundation seems to apply and sit better too.
If you read the ingredient list, you’ll realize it’s really not much of a “list.” The blissfully simple ingredients are nothing more than rosehip fruit + seed oil blend, natural vitamin E and rosemary leaf extract. It isn’t complex, but the quality is what makes it shine.
Bottom Line: This oil is nothing short of a miracle in a bottle.
